Lauren and Thomas were such a joy, and major troopers on their wedding day at Delfosse Vineyards in Faber, VA. The day before their wedding the weather channel was calling for a chance of severe thunderstorms all day until 9pm. On the morning of, that percentage went down to only 50% scattered thunderstorms from about 3pm to 7pm. So we were keeping our fingers crossed all morning for good weather and no rain for their 5:30pm outdoor ceremony.
I got to hang out with Thomas and his hilarious group of groomsmen while they got ready. It was such a hot and humid day that they mostly stuck to the cooler room where the vineyard stores their barrels of wine, to stay out of the heat. The sun stayed out for the most part, with some big puffy clouds closing in as we got closer and closer to their first look time, but the weather still held. They had the most precious first look and Lauren was absolutely glowing in her beaded strapless gown and cathedral length veil! I just loved her dress, and she looked so stunning!
Once it was time for the ceremony, the groomsmen and bridesmaids trekked through the vines to get in place. Almost at this exact moment, the ominous clouds in the sky started to rumble and grumble, and some of the ladies with longer hair started to stick up due to the static electricity in the air! As the first two bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down towards the aisle, the skies opened up and the downpour began! Luckily most people had brought umbrellas and Lauren somehow still managed to look absolutely amazing as she walked down the aisle with her dad holding an umbrella over her. Because the rain was so crazy, the string trio they had to play music had to rush to the car to save their instruments, but everyone began to hum “Here Comes the Bride” as she glided down the aisle towards her waiting soon-to-be-husband Thomas. It was such a testament to the relationships they have formed with their friends and family that they stayed through the torrential rain storm and didn’t let the ceremony skip a beat at all!
By the end of the ceremony the rain let up and the sun came shining out. There was just the most amazing golden light pouring down upon everyone now, that it was so beautiful to be a part of! They had several of their friends share readings and poems for the ceremony to make it even more special. It was such a lovely day to be there with them as they became newlyweds, and to see just how much everyone there loved them and shared in their happiness.
Congrats to Lauren and Thomas on a memorable wedding day, and here’s to a lifetime of happiness together!
