I had the wonderful pleasure of shooting Emily & Matt’s beautiful Old Town Alexandria wedding with Anna Kardos Photography (check her out here!). First of all, I want to thank Anna for the awesome opportunity to photograph with her and to share in the special day of two kind and caring souls.
Emily and Matt’s day could not have started out any better with the sunny, warm weather. It was in the 70s in March! It just couldn’t have been more perfect in a season like early spring when the weather is so temperamental and unexpected!
I was so happy to hear that Emily and Matt decided to do a first look, because it allows for so much more time to capture sweet portraits of just the two of them. And it’s such a special moment between the soon-to-be husband and wife as they see each other on their wedding day for the first time! We headed to the Carlyle House in Old Town Alexandria for their first look, which was a beautiful space with greenery and blooming flowers. Matt looked handsome in a black tux and bowtie, and Emily was just stunning in her strapless, lace gown! Their first look was so sweet to capture and I loved being apart of it!
They had a small wedding party with one bridesmaid and one groomsman. The whole day was so relaxed which made it even more wonderful to be there to help capture all the moments! I loved that even with the smaller bridal party, they still included some of their closest friends to be part of all the action. We had a ton of fun taking photos with all of their friends!
The ceremony was held at Westminster Presbyterian Church just before sunset. All of Matt and Emily’s family and friends came to celebrate their ceremony and witness them officially becoming husband and wife! After the ceremony, everyone headed to the Carlyle Club, which was reminiscent of a 1920s supper club. I loved it! They even had a “Love Is Sweet” candy bar which is always a special treat!
Congrats to Matt and Emily and thank you for letting me part of such an amazing day!
