This past weekend Brent and I headed to his alma mater: Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. While I didn’t go to Tech, since I’ve met him and been there several times now, I like to consider myself an honorary Hokie! I’ve actually been to visit Tech way more times than I’ve been back to Appalachian State.
We woke up extra early to beat the game day traffic and stopped at Starbucks before walking around to explore the campus. The weather was nearly perfect, and there were still a ton of fall leaves everywhere. My heart was so happy because fall will always be my favorite season!
We rushed to see the “walk” with the Corp of Cadets band, cheerleaders, and finally the football players. I’ve finally learned most of the rules of football, so now I really like watching it! It was fun to see the players up close with everyone cheering them on like celebrities.
This Friday, after Thanksgiving, we actually snagged tickets to watch the rivalry game against UVA. I can’t wait! We’ve been to the game the past two years and I’m glad this year’s is back in Charlottesville. Keep an eye out for an update next week!
Sunday I tested out my baking skills and made a vanilla bean cupcake with salted caramel frosting. After wondering around Wegman’s forever I finally found the whole vanilla beans that I think really made these work! I took them into work today and they were all gone before 11am! I’ll take that as a success! I need more people to bake for so I can keep testing out new recipes and not have it all sitting in our own kitchen to constantly tempt me! Who wants to be a volunteer?
And now for the cupcakes!! :)
